Synopsis

Hogan plans to eliminate a beautiful allied defector who is giving Klink an award.

Story Notes

• This is the one hundred and ninth episode of the series, but is the one hundredth and eighth episode to be shown on television and is the sixteenth episode shown for the Fourth Season.
• The character of Leslie Smythe-Beddows is an allusion to Lady Haw Haw; i.e. the American Nazi radio broadcaster Jane Anderson.
• Klink inadvertently reveals that he's been rifling the funds of the camp officer's club for his own personal use.

Timeline Notes and Speculations

• This probably take place in the spring of 1944. Newkirk is over his drive to hook up with every girl that he sees, so Hogan's furlough program for his heroes (Sticky Wicket Newkirk) appears to be in place. It also has to happen some time after the events depicted in Axis Annie. Smythe-Beddows bringing Hogan on the air was a complete surprise to the Propaganda Ministry; otherwise, somebody might have remembered what happened in his earlier appearance and put a stop to it.
• This episode takes place over one week, from the day Klink learns of the award to the day he actually receives it.
• A week before this episode, General Burkhalter had reluctantly consented to Klink being given an award by the Propaganda Ministry for his camp's no-escape record.
• This appears to take place after The Purchasing Plan. In that episode, Burkhalter had forced Klink to cut camp expenses. This would explain his subsequent raiding of the officer's club funds, as alluded to in this and other episodes (such as Standing Room Only, The Gestapo Takeover, et al), and will eventually get him into trouble.
